Does anyone else despise the book with a burning passion more than lava mixed with the River Styx?

To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee. This book is an accurate portrayal of 1930 country. It really gives the illusion of Scout, and her troubles as a little girl with a complex way of thinking of the world and a new version of thinking of youth within a time of sexist ways. Not that that hasn’t stopped by today. But, it does give some perspective within a mind of different ways. For instance, Scout, has been able to read since she was just an infant. But, as soon as she gets to school, she is encountered with a new way of learning. She is having difficulty agreeing with the teacher as Miss Caroline says “You can read? Your father must have taught you wrong.” This upsets and confuses Scout and gives her hatred toward school and the outside life of the world, that is much different and "far away" from her little world with her brother, Jem, and her own imagination

So... Hiya.

I read the whole entire book. Cover to cover. All 281 pages of classic literature.

I had read it before, but I didn't understand it. Now that I'm older, the whole book makes much more sense and I enjoyed it more.

Atticus is a boss. Boo Radley is a pro. Mr. Ewell is a... meanie (school-appropriate insults for the win)

Scout is rebellious and adventurous and usually gets scolded by her father and Jem, trying to be the father figure in one part of the book idk if y'all remember dattttt?!?! She's really sneaky too.

I'm not sure if this book is worse than Haddix's book called Uprising, or if it's just meant to cruelly torture the minds of children.

Freedom of speech: gotta love it... or hate it... either way, there's nothing you can do about it...

YES! That is the thing. Today, whether you hate it or love it, freedom of speech is among us and there is NOTHING you can do about it, and in the 1930s, there was not much of this during the depression. But, it was still there. And yet, in small parts that you are able to miss, are the rules, ways of thinking.

I would have to agree with Josepher, that Atticus is "boss". But, I must say Atticus is more of an authority figure than a father figure. Now, while I know that these terms may be very similar, there are multiple aspects that make them differ from each other. Such as... emotion. While Atticus of course loves his children and is not cold towards them, he can be a little distant or isolated. Now, yes, he does do this to him self. But you must think about what Atticus has been through. A death or leaving of loved one (Lee does not specify). He also must learn to cope along with children he may have no idea how to take care of. Now, after thinking of this, there is an actually possibility that he could be both. Then in that case, he must learn both ways, whether it includes authority, or a new way of giving comfort to Jem or Scout.

Honestly the boss comment was me expressing how much I liked Atticus as a character... but it does bring up this point. I actually think that despite his lack of experience in parenting, their family is actually closer, and Atticus does do a good job. Atticus has to take on multiple roles as the only parent of the house, but the kids are very close to him, closer than many can be.

How? How does it torture , as you say, " the minds of children. I must disagree on that topic. It is a energetic book. Please tell me.
